Verdigris Bonsai Teacup Challenge

You've heard of a storm in a teacup, but have you ever heard of a tree in a teacup?

The challenge:

1. Choose a household item that you like (it doesn't have to be a cup)

2. Drill a hole (or multiple) in the bottom. This is especially important if you're working with a glazed or plastic item.

3. Choose a tree that suits your item. Do the colours compliment each other? Will the tree live well in the container?

4. 4. Pot your tree into the container with well-draining soil. I recommend akadama or an akadama-rich blend.

5. Style your tree to work with the pot's features; don't try to ignore or hide handles, spouts, etc. Is there a lid, spoon or coaster/saucer included, for example? If so, what will you do to include it in your design?

6. Share your work! I would love to see your creations. Make a video or take a photo and submit them to Instagram and/or YouTube and tag Verdigris Bonsai.
